We spent several days at an anchorage outside of Bahía de Jaltemba which is on the western side of mainland Mexico right on the Pacific Ocean. Little did we realize that on this holiday week, everyone in Mexico goes to the beach for a very long celebration. (or so it seems) We were anchored in the large harbor that was a little rolley from the waves. Dan put out a stern anchor and that helped to keep the bow into the waves even when the wind shifted.

There were many ponga's that escorted people to various island beaches, or to just take a tour or pull a large banana inflatable raft behind.

Banana rides anyone?

Many things were being sold or rented on the beach. Dan and I sat down to eat our barb-o-qued fish sticks at a free table not realizing it was for rent. Below you can see all the inflatables for sale.

Ice-cream anyone?

Some streets in Los Ayala with shops.

We decided that Jaltemba was a bit busier than we like, so we sailed back north 9 nm to Chalaca. This morning Dan and I took our SUP boards to a beautiful cove - about a four mile paddle at least. Here is Dan mastering the technique!

Happy New Year Everyone!
Happy New Year Bev! We are freezing here and will be for the next week. Finally, will see the oral surgeon on Friday for my hip. I cannot wait to be halfway whole again. What an adventure you are having. xoxo Donna
