Spending Time In The Fog
This will be our fourth night in Crescent City Marina in California. It has been a pleasant spot to be as we await for a solution to our two broken sail tracks that hold the sail to the mast. They broke on the sail down. Through Dan's investigation and research, he has determined the slides that were on the boat when we purchased it are not the original ones, as the slides are really too tight for the track that is on the mast. That was why it was always a workout to hoist up the sails. This added friction no doubt caused more wear on this small piece of hardware. Now to find the correct size......we are still working on that.
Yesterday, Dan and I decided to hop on our bikes and explore the Citizens Dock and breakwater area called Anchor Way. There was a Coast Guard boat at the end and a nice rocky shoreline.
We then decided to follow the paved 5.5 mile bike trail northerly along Pebble Beach to Point Saint George. It was really delightful, totally flat and very scenic. The overcast weather, fog and damp air caused no problem except limited visibility. We even saw surfers trying to catch a few waves. Here are some pictures that I took along the ride.
We made it to Point Saint George and could go no farther. It was a great ride. I considered riding down the cliff so as to impress my mountain biking daughters; Kara and Ada. But since I've already earned enough bruises trying to keep up with them on previous rides, I chose the wiser path and did not attempt it.
The following morning I took a walk past our marina and discovered the harbor was in low tide and there were all types of birds feeding - even Snowy Egrets with their long legs.
It was such a quiet beach that I enjoyed doing some standing yoga poses followed by some easy weight lifting exercises using the available rocks. Somehow I have to keep up with my exercise routine. When I returned, this view of the marina caught my eye.
That's all folks! Stay tuned for more.
