This is a picture of Malo, our 1989 C&C 37plus, as she sits at South Beach Marina, Newport, Oregon. It has been a little over a year since my husband Daniel and I purchased her in Alameda, California. We sailed her north to Newport, Oregon so she could be closer to our home town of Eugene, Oregon. We are getting her ready for an 8 month cruise south to Mexico. This will be a blog about her journey and our journey as a cruising couple.
It takes a lot of work and preparation to actually leave the dock. It would really be unjust, if I were to start the blog the day we take off, which is projected to be about September 1, 2017 -( give or take a generous "weather window" on each side). We needed a target goal, and so it is really only a date. I will do a little back-tracking to give a bit more information of how this trip has come about, and how we have gotten here.
Then we will let the real fun and adventure begin once we actually leave the dock!
